Our organization is a new one and the first vegetarian organization in Indonesia. There are hundreds of millions of vegetarians in Indonesia, including regular or temporary vegetarians. Most of them are vegetarian because of religion, the biggest is Maitreya Buddhism. Maitreya is the name of Buddha, with a big smile, very fat, and a symbol of happiness. You can find his statue everywhere. In his teaching we know about karma and reincarnation. That's the reason why his disciples are encouradged to be vegetarians.

'The Indonesian Maitreya Vegetarian Family' was established in August 1998, as a non-profit organization. It's membership is open to all religions and nations. Aimed at distributing love to all creatures, promoting vegetarianism, and saving the planet with a plantbased diet. We issue KVMI card for members, 'Info Vegetarian' bimonthly tabloid, and seminar.
