Vegetarisch nach Lust und Laune - Super Vegetarian Cooking

hiltl book The book is issued (in German only) by WerdVerlag, ISBN 3-85932-234-6, SFr. 59,

On the occasion of the 100 years celebration of Hiltl’s vegetarian restaurant, Rolf Hiltl, the great-grandson of Ambrosius Hiltl, (founder of the Hiltl Vegi restaurant) has published a vegetarian cook book where recipes that have been kept secret for a long time are made available for the general public.

On more than 160 pages the 60 most popular recipes of soups, salads, vegetables, mushrooms and cereals, tofu and Indian dishes sauces and chutneys, desserts and drinks are made public, which have made the restaurant known far beyond the border of the country. Most of the dishes are vegan, the lacto vegetarian can be cooked vegan by using soy-products instead of dairy products.

In the last part of the book there is the documentation of the interesting and thrilling story of the restaurant and its owners. Quotations of famous guests and a statement from Prof. Dr. med. Rottka, University of Berlin, who certifies that vegetarians are of better health and generally live longer than meat eaters, close the book.

The anniversary book is rather attractive especially for the clearly displayed recipes and the very big coloured photos, all taken by Marie-Pierre Morel, a well known photographer from Paris. - (SDL)

Nature’s first Law: The Raw Food Diet

book cover Stephen Arlin, R.C. Dini, David Wolfe, 2nd Edition, 232p., $14.95,

The Raw-Food Diet is the natural, powerful, and beautiful way to live in harmony on Earth. It is based on the discovery that we should nourish ourselves on the foods provided by Nature in their original uncooked state as all other creatures on Earth have always done since the beginning of time.

Our food choices deeply and radically affect the way we think, feel and behave. By improving our food choices, we improve our health and happiness. By improving our food choices, we shape a new, wonderful destiny for ourselves and our fellow beings.

The book is designed to take the reader on a voyage of self-discovery. The authors present a complete philosophy of natural nutrition. They combine logic with emotion in an effective call to action. They describe that a raw-food, fruit-based diet is the path which will lead humanity out of the present chaos into a bountiful future. The authors blast away at civilization’s conventional feeding patterns using a compelling stream of descriptive language guaranteed to charge your emotions and electrify your senses. The writing will move you. After turning the last page you will know ‘why’ and 'how' to achieve The Raw-Food Diet. The Laws of Nature are unchanging, and thus the insights found within these pages are timeless and very much needed for a troubled world.
