Calling all Vegans - What's your Story?

from European Vegetarian, Issue 2/3 - 2000

Would you like to share your experience of veganism with people around the world and see your name and true-life stories in print? Then please join us in a very special project .

Vegan Stories is the working title of a new book, currently being compiled by Vegan Society council member, Julie Rosenfield, and authorised by The Vegan Society. We are inviting vegans everywhere to contribute their own true-life stories about veganism, whether uplifting, amusing, happy, inspiring, sad or poignant to this exciting new book. The book's aim is to increase awareness of veganism, raise money for The Vegan Society and above all to be a celebration of the vegan lifestyle and all things vegan!

As one of the main aims is to raise money for The Vegan Society, we are unable to offer payment to the book's contributors, but you will have the thrill of seeing your name and story in print in a very special book which will be treasured by vegans for many years to come.

So what's your story? What could you write about? Some ideas might include: how and why you became vegan; funny incidents relating to your vegan lifestyle; maybe you've found or lost the love of your life through being vegan; perhaps you've had to change your job or even move house? And what about all your experiences of travel and ordering vegan food? Maybe you've got some charming stories about vegan children or perhaps you have an unusual hobby?

We would also be very interested to hear about vegan day-to-day life in as many different parts of the world as possible.

These are just some ideas but you're welcome of think up any more of your own. We would love to receive your original illustrations, photos, poems, cartoons, and jokes too. Please spread the word and invite all your vegan friends to join us in this project too.

We hope that's enough vegan food for thought to get you started. For more information, please send a large stamped addressed envelope to:
